Project

Redecorations to the main corridor and school hall.  Renewal of flooring in the main corridor and hall including new skirtings in the corridor.  Both jobs were carried out simultaneously.

Internal redecorations to walls and woodwork in various areas of the school.

Installation of a new cubicle in the ladies’ bathroom, complete with toilet and cistern.

Sub-division of existing hall to form an additional classroom.

ISSUES & WORKAROUNDS:

• Other contractors were on site and so safety distance as well as noise and deliveries had to be managed carefully.
• Working in schools can be tricky with regards to access, especially during term time. At SC, all of our site team are fully DBS checked and approved to work where there may be young or vulnerable people.
• Covid-19 restrictions meant that works could not be carried out in the ways that we were all used to. Ventilation, social distancing and increased hygiene had to be considered. Additional Risk Assessments were produced, PPE provided (on top of the usual PPE and RPE) and additional materials supplied to the site team so that brushes, for example, were not shared.
